Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness, said that Mohamed Salah looked for the ‘easy option’ during their game against Manchester United.

Liverpool had played out a goalless draw against leaders Manchester United in the Premier League’s 18th round.

The Reds have now failed to earn a win in any of their last four league matches, as they now sit fourth on the league table behind Manchester United, Manchester City, and Leicester City.

During the game, Liverpool managed just three shots on target, with Thiago Alcantara’s long-ranger being the only one testing David De Gea.

Liverpool controlled the majority of the game, in terms of possession, but it was United that created the real threats through their counter-attacks.

Souness claimed that Liverpool’s front three were quite disappointing during the game, singling out Egypt’s Mohamed Salah.

“Trying to be a neutral, the Liverpool trio (Salah, Mane and Firmino) didn’t get me on the edge of the seat and nine times out of 10, they do,” he told Sky Sports.

“There was an incident in the second half when Salah could’ve gone one-on-one with (Luke) Shaw, but he chose to come in and take the easy option.

“I think that says a lot about his performance today,” he concluded.

Salah has now failed to score in his last four Premier League appearances and will hope to regain his form when they host Burnley on Thursday, January 21st.
