James Maddison will NOT be in England’s squad for the Euros this summer as he ‘can’t be trusted’, talkSPORT was told.

The attacking midfielder missed a key chance to impress Three Lions boss Southgate on Sunday when he, along with Ayoze Perez and Hamza Choudhry, were dropped from their clash with West Ham due to a breach of Covid protocols.

Maddison was already on the fringes of the England squad, missing the recent international break through injury, but now faces missing out on the squad for Euro 2020.

Jesse Lingard scored twice as he continues to shine while there is plenty of competition from Jack Grealish and Phil Foden for a spot in the squad.

Jamie O’Hara believes that Maddison may look back on this incident with regret in the future.

“The biggest problem, and person who will have the most regret out of this, is James Maddison,” O’Hara told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“I think he’s just put himself out the England side. The Euros are done for him now as he can’t be trusted.

“There was a casino incident they had before and Southgate wasn’t happy about it, now this.

“He will have huge regrets and I know this from being a player myself and not reaching the potential you probably should reach.

“He will look at this situation in a few years and go ‘I wish I didn’t do that and took that responsibility more’.

“When you’re a young lad, you’ve got money, you’re enjoying life, you’re driving nice cars, you can do what you want and you get carried away.

“You think you’re invincible and invisible and you can get away with anything. You can’t.

“The worst thing you can do as a footballer, and I’ve felt this, when you come to the end, football ends quickly.

“It’s not like a business where you can make mistakes and can start another business and learn from those mistakes.

“When football is gone it’s gone. You can’t have regrets. I have a lot of regrets and I look at someone like James Maddison, I was a party boy and I liked going out and enjoy things and I look back and think ‘I wish I didn’t do that, I wish I didn’t go on that night out, I wish I didn’t get caught doing that’.

“When your career ends, you don’t want that feeling. He’s a great football player with a lot of ability.”
