Former Zamalek star urges club to sell Mostafa Mohamed

Former Zamalek striker Amr Zaki has advised the club’s current board to let the Whites talisman Mostafa Mohamed go as the player continues to press the management to accept the offer coming from Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne.

Mostafa Mohamed has been the main talk of Egyptian media for the past weeks as he’s been linked with a move abroad.

Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne are seemingly the closest team to sign him as they have sent several official offers to sign the 23-year-old.

In addition, Zamalek’s official channel reported on Thursday that Spanish Segunda Division club UD Almeria are also pursuing the Egypt international.

And former Zamalek and Wigan forward Amr Zaki hopes Mostafa Mohamed can go abroad soon to replicate his journey in Europe.

“I hope Zamalek accept selling Mostafa Mohamed as it works to both parties’ benefit,” Zaki wrote on Twitter.

“The club needs the money and the player also keen on playing abroad. I hope that the deal ends in a satisfactory way for both parties.

“Replacing the player now is hard but not impossible,” he added.

Mohamed has scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 46 games across all competitions last season with Zamalek.

This season, he has two in two, however, he was left out of the club’s last two league games as well as their upcoming one against El-Gaish as he is trying to force a move abroad.

Mohamed burst onto the scene with Egypt’s U-23 side that won the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title back in December of last year.

His contributions have guided Zamalek to three trophies, including the Egyptian Cup, the Egyptian Super Cup, and the CAF Super Cup.
