Borussia Dortmund reveal Erling Haaland transfer stance as CEO of German club says they will discuss ‘exceptional offers’ for Jadon Sancho with England ace

Borussia Dortmund are not planning on losing Erling Haaland this summer – but an exceptional offer for Jadon Sancho could tempt them into selling.

Talk of a Haaland exit from Dortmund is hotting up with pictures of the striker’s father – former footballer Alfe-Inge – and his agent Mino Raiola meeting in Barcelona widely circulated last week.

A number of top European clubs have been linked with the Norwegian hotshot, 20.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are all understood to be in contention to sign him along with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke insists they will talk to Haaland before anything is decided and, as it stands, they have no intention of cashing in on their prized asset.

“We do not have a parallel plan. We will discuss this with Erling, his father and his agent Mino Raiola,” Watzke told Goal and DAZN.

“We also want him to be happy to stay with us, to score goals for BVB next year with conviction. There is no alternative plan.”

Watzke, however, appeared more open to the idea of offloading Sancho this summer, adding in the interview that an ‘exceptional offer’ will lead to discussions with the 21-year-old and his representatives.

Sancho almost left Dortmund to join Man United last summer, but the two clubs couldn’t agree on a fee for him.

Pressed on whether Haaland and Sancho will both be at Dortmund next season, Watzke responded: “I’m not getting involved in probabilities, it’s no good. Jadon Sancho has been with us much longer than Erling Haaland. We’ll have to speak to Jadon too.

“If there is an exceptional offer we will discuss it with the player and the agent, as always. Nonetheless, I am very sure that the transfer market will only run to a very limited extent this summer.

“Especially at the really big clubs you can see what kind of wounds coronavirus has inflicted, and they are not small ones that heal within two weeks.”

Dortmund’s negotiating position could be weakened if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, which is a real danger of happening as they’re currently seven points off fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt.

They are still in Europe’s premier club competition this season as they take on Sancho’s former side and rumoured Haaland suitor Manchester City on Tuesday night.
