amie O’Hara’s stunning Tottenham rant as former star declares: There’s no leadership, the back four plays like a youth team and Gareth Bale saga ‘needs to end’

Jamie O’Hara has taken aim at the lack of leadership within the Tottenham squad after their 2-2 draw with Newcastle – and called for the Gareth Bale saga to end.

Spurs missed the chance to leapfrog Chelsea into fourth place in the Premier League following a late goal from Arsenal loanee Joe Willock at St James’ Park on Sunday.

Conceding late in games on has become a habit for Spurs this season.

Jose Mourinho’s side have let 11 points slip because of goals conceded in the final 10 minutes of games in 2020/21- the most of any top-flight team.

Speaking on talkSPORT after their latest setback, former midfielder O’Hara likened the current defence to a youth side.

He declared: “There is no leadership in Spurs’ team. [Hugo] Lloris is the captain, but he’s in goal. Harry Kane’s up front doing his thing.

“Without Harry Kane, I don’t know where Tottenham would be. Apart from those two players and [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg, there are no leaders in the dressing room.

“There is no one getting the game by the scruff of the neck. There is no one shouting, screaming.

“The back four looks like an Under-23s side. [Davinson] Sanchez and [Joe] Rodon as a centre-back pairing is probably the worst centre-back pairing I’ve seen at Tottenham in a long time.

“It just wasn’t good to watch. There was no cohesion, no talking, they just kept kicking the ball out of play.

“There was no confidence in their game. It doesn’t matter what Harry Kane does, if you can’t keep a clean sheet, you’re not going to win games.”

O’Hara is also desperate for the Bale situation to be brought to a close and the 31-year-old’s time at the club to be over.

The Real Madrid loanee had been showing good form in recent weeks, but was only brought on as an 88th-minute substitute at Newcastle.

He said: “Everyone’s had enough of the Gareth Bale saga. The fans, the players, the media, everyone has just had enough.

“He came in, there were people standing outside the ground, it was like the messiah coming back.

“He wasn’t fit for three months, got fit, had a few decent games, started playing well and then disappeared in the two biggest games of the season against Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb, two shocking performances.

“Then he comes out and says he just wanted to be fit for the Euros, it’s why he came to Spurs, he wants to go back to Real Madrid. Everyone is just tired of it.

“You can see Mourinho is tired of it. He didn’t bother playing him against Aston Villa, he brought him on for two minutes against Newcastle.

“That whole situation just needs to end.”
