Oily foods are relatively cheaper than every other food out there and easier easy to access. Off the top of my head, I think one of the fastest silent killers in Nigeria is oily foods, they smell nice and look juicy. With the increasing literature on the deficiencies of fried and oily foods, it’s a wonder that individuals still choose to consume oil in large quantities, in soups, stews, even Party jollof rice, (yes even your “owambe” rice)
So here’s why you should reduce the oil contents of your daily consumption.
1. REDUCES FAT
Consumption of oily foods leads to an increased storage of fat in the body, causing massive weight gain in a short period of time. Gone are the days where being fat was regarded as being a sign of good living. Times have changed to an age where ‘excess fat’ is considered as a burden. Reducing the oil content of your food helps to bring about in a reduction of weight, depending on the individual
2. CLEARS THE SKIN
If you are like me and you are very conscious of your face, pimples are not exactly your friend. Intake of oil above the normal rate leads to a clogging of the pores, which in turn leads to an increase in how quick your skin becomes irritable. As such wash your face and try to reduce the oil.
3. PREVENTS THE RISE OF CHOLESTEROL
A common denominator amongst oily foods is that they bring an upsurge in the cholesterol levels of individuals.
4. HELPS YOUR HEART
A reduction in the intake of oil helps the heart, as the blood vessels which are usually clogged from the excess consumption of oily foods are opened up to allow for healthier living. Which in the long run would lead to the prevention of instances like a Heart attack.
